Exterminate all the brutes
«Exterminate All the Brutes, by filmmaker Raoul Peck (I Am Not Your Negro), is a four-part documentary series about the history of colonialism. Through his personal background, Peck seeks to deconstruct the creation and obstruction of history and show a light on the exploitative and genocidal aspects of European colonialism – from the Americas to Africa – and its impact on society today.
In the first episode, “The Troubling Confidence of Ignorance”, Peck focuses on the United States as a colonial power, explores how race first became institutionalized, the Nazi extermination program and its precursors, as well as the exploitation of the African continent.»
Trigger warning: explicit violence. Peck shows exemplary historical scenes of violence against women, black, Indigenous and people of color, carried out through a white protagonist.
